COVID News (last update: June 4, 2021)

The current COVID situation in Switzerland is favorable for holding ICDAR 2021 in hybrid mode with both on-site and online participants. It is recommended to register for on-site participation if you plan to attend the conference in person (early bird fees until July 5). Should it become necessary to limit on-site participation to scientific and/or social events, the date of payment of the registration fee will be taken into account, following the “first come, first serve” principle. If travel is not possible due to COVID-related restrictions, a downgrade to online participation will be applied, refunding the difference in the registration fees.

Regulations for Entering Switzerland

In most cases, no quarantine is currently needed for entering Switzerland, especially when fully vaccinated:
– Detailed information on entering Switzerland can be found here.
– Were you in a “risk country” before entering Switzerland? A list can be found here.
– A summary of the regulations is provided here (May 31, 2021).

Current Reopening Progress

Reopening in Switzerland is faster than planned due to an improved epidemiological situation. A COVID certificate is being introduced in June for people who have been fully vaccinated, who have recovered from COVID, or who can provide proof of a negative test result, in order to facilitate travel and access to events. We expect more details about the exact regulations for events like the ICDAR 2021 conference (regarding COVID certificate, masks, social distancing, etc.) from the Swiss government by the end of June, coming into force on July 1. More reopening measures are then planned for August.
